I didn't paint for a year and now I have all sorts of problems. I use blacks very seldom and I realise now that I shouldn't use them at all or only in very specific cases. When I use them I find my blacks devoided of any character, rather empty and always dull. Nevertheless when I look at other painters' blaks I find them very brilliant and vigorous and I wonder where I go wrong. Some hints?
