the canvas already has oil on it this won't work will it? Acrylic does
not do well on an oil surface does it? One thing many people don't seem
to think of, and I certainly did not when I was younger, is that if the
work looks structually OK when first completed, that does not mean it
will not deteriorate. I understand some people want their work to disintegrate
as part of their expression and meaning. I respect that. I am concerned
that many people's work will be lost even in their own life times simply
because they do not understand the limits of the materials. It makes me
very sad when I see late 20th century paintings that are cracking and
sagging and peeling. They are what is valuable to me about being alive,
they offer me such a rich experience just looking at them. I know Rob
is knowledgeable, I await his response. |
