In Reply to: panel glue..... posted by dodndi on 10/28/01 at 9:17 AM: : has anyone ever made there own canvas panels. i want to make them with wood panels instaed of card board, like Fredrix uses. And is there a good type of glue to use for my panels. : thank you rob suggested rabbit skin glue and it's probably the best, however , be sure that what ever you do to the front of the board you do to the back. if you don't the board will warp, because of the uneven tension applied to the surface of the board. ie. glue the linen to the face apply glue to the back evenly. for your first try use a thin linen its not as hard to deal with later once you've got the hang of it you can go to the heavier canvas or linen. don't forget to sand the face once it has hardened so you have some tooth to work with. |
