Cleaning Oil Paintings.

You probably know that you must be so careful when cleaning oil paintings and its usually best not to. If you have to as you said the painting has smoke marks on it, the way that i read you clean old paintings is by using bread. The bread has to be freshly baked bread and not warm. You pull bits of the fluffy soft bread insides and dab at the painting, the soft bread removes the dirt without hurting the oil painting. Sounds crazy but i am not joking that is what you do.Faye
