: hi I want some tips to make a self portrait and on making cartoons
Heres a couple tips for a self portrait.
If this is your first time try these tricks out.
1) instead of using a mirror, us a black and white photo of your self. this is to help get the shading right, the only thing about using a photo is that you lose a lot of the detail that comes from the face, but you could always fill that in later after you get the basic parts of your face down.
2) When drawing a nose remember that there are no real lines, use different shading techniques to bring it forward in the picture.
3) Draw everything the way it is, If you have a big nose draw a big nose if you have small lips draw small lips, do not cheat the way you look by adding or subtracting from the way you are. This is why a self portrait is the hardest piece that you will ever do. But once you get past it everything else seems that much easier.
if you need more tips just send me and e-mail with a subject line in all caps.

to make self portraits in cartoony form all you have to do is take one of your more obvious features like a big nose and overexaggerate it, do make it too detailed. stevo Posted at: 12/16/02
