Fairmont Art, Inc., was established in 2001 to provide stretched canvas and stretcher bars to artists of all persuasions, from the hobbyist to the professional. Our specialty is larger size, custom- made stretched canvas.

The foundation of Fairmont Art rests on our commitment to provide superior quality goods and service to our customers at a fair price.

Fairmont makes stretched canvases using its own custom- moulded, southern poplar hardwood stretcher bars and a double- blade primed high quality canvas. All canvas is 100% cotton duck, both landscape and portrait, with a double layer of top quality acrylic primer. We will also stretch your canvas or linen on our stretchers!

Fairmont moulds its stretcher bars from kiln- dried southern poplar hardwood. Poplar is noted for its low moisture content, its hardness and resistance to warping, and its relative cleanliness and freedom from knots. Each stretcher bar has both ends milled as a tongue and groove fitting. All bars are milled, by hand, on modern equipment, to help ensure a perfect fit regardless of the size. Each stretcher is one solid piece of wood. All in all, we believe poplar provides a stretcher bar of superior visual appeal, feel, and performance.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Since we sell our products mostly via the internet and mail, we get this question quite often by people who see our product and compare them to “ similar “ products in catalogs, over the internet, or in art stores. The answer is quality, integrity, and craftsmanship. Our commitment is behind every one of our products as being a first rate product, meticulously inspected from start to finish, and handcrafted in North Carolina using only the finest raw materials available, or we wouldn’t be selling it.. So when you see a “ similar “ product, take time to compare the two. Chances are that it’s manufactured at a high rate of speed (which lowers quality) using fully automated machinery; not one that has true workmanship and incomparable quality. We look forward to having you as a valued customer!

Sincerely,

Ckep McLaurin
